As part of a comprehensive community outreach program designed to solicit feedback on opportunities to revitalize Hampton Bays’ downtown, a dedicated web site has gone live that allows residents throughout the town to explore the possibilities of redevelopment. The link is https://hbdtr.com/
The effort is the work of Alfred Caiola, a longtime Hampton Bays homeowner. His professional success as a developer has prompted him to invite his fellow residents to consider how Hampton Bays’ commercial corridor could be improved through investment and redevelopment.
The website follows multiple community meetings where Mr. Caiola has been joined by planners to present concepts, listen to public comments, explore options, and gain support for a shared vision of how best to revitalize downtown Hampton Bays, making it vibrant, relevant, and welcoming.
“These community meetings have been crucial in gaining immediate feedback from neighbors and fellow residents regarding possible redevelopment,” stated Mr. Caiola. “However, we need to present downtown revitalization opportunities to the entire community so that we can gain as broad and comprehensive perspective as possible. The `Hampton Bays Downtown Revitalization website achieves that goal by serving as a virtual community meeting which offers various potential redevelopment elements for public review and allows residents to share their own thoughts on our community’s future,” stated Mr. Caiola.
He noted that the new website is meant to augment, not replace, ongoing community outreach efforts where in-person meetings allow for an open and free-wheeling discussion regarding revitalization options.
“The new web site is informative, comprehensive, and intuitive to navigate. But nothing can compete with sitting down with your fellow residents and discussing how best to envision the future of Hampton Bays and we will continue to do that,” concluded Mr. Caiola.
